BGE Chickie Legs. WOO WOOO!!

They are gone but NEVER forgotten.  That egg, see below, she's done it again.  Chicken legs from Florence Meats, rubbed with a mix of coriander, cumin, cardamum, cayenne and black pepper, hickory smoked, just a touch.  A feast fit for a ummmm, me ....and him ....and John even got one!

What?  I should have gotten closer to take that pic?  I was afraid the camera might melt.  That sucker (dear BGE!) is HOT!
We did our best to duplicate this chicken last night ...but with a whole bird....and apple wood chips instead of hickory.  Be still my heart (and slobberin lips!) it turned out great.  Pics tomorrow - don't leave the country ....without your ipad!

Big Green Egg ...it is our life now!

We're having SO much fun with our new toy!  We had to take it easy with her for the first few days - just to make sure the seal/gasket cured correctly and will stay put.  But look out now!  Larry had her up to 650 degrees on the weekend.  Striploins were seared ...but no pics were taken!  I wasn't there and i would imagine they were gulped down pretty darn quick-like anyway!

But the first night he fired it up i ran out for some hot Italian sausages.  A warning - your mouth may water uncontrollably at the sight of them.... take a deep breath....

No, they are not burnt - they're hickory smoked.  oh yaaaaa, yummmmy!  That's not a very nice pic but trust me - they were heavenly.  That same night we did some chicken legs and some salmon.  Stay tuned!!

Roasted Red Peppers

Another rainy, gloomy day here so of course my thoughts turn to soup!  We've had very few rainy days so i'm not complaining, at all.  It actually feels pretty weird to not have blue skies ...and a touch of wind now & then.  I did get some peppers roasted last week and they turned into some yummy soup eventually.  This may look like just a big red blob but trust me, it's soup!  And of course somebody didn't remember to take a picture until half of it was gone - thus the ugly pot pic.  oy vay, eh?!

Have a zoupa day!

It Was a Rainy Day in Dishville

What to post on a gloomy rainy fall day.  Hmmmm, a piping hot bowl of homemade soup would be GREAT!  But no, i have not that.  Perhaps tomorrow as the cook is set to make roasted red peper soup for dinner tonight.  oh yaaaaa baby!

Nope, today something different.  Another "dish"!  Our dear friend Rick is not doing well so i post this pic of him in a happier time - when "Mis' Behavin" was certainly misbehavin!!

Hold your loved-ones tight!

Two in a Row! WHOA WHOA WHOAA!

COCONUT LOAF!!  recipe courtesy of Alana over at Eating From The Ground Up
SOOO yummy and just plain good stuff in it - even "brain saving" coconut oil!  What more could you ask for?

We ate slices of it with fresh Ontario strawberries and frozen Ontario blueberries ...a la mode!  Alana mentions toasting it too - imagine!!   yummmmy!!   Go check her out - she's A.M.A.Z.I.N.G.!!

Nothing in a WEEK!!

I've been adventurous and of course, forgetful!
I made chicken pot pies on the weekend - 8 small and one big sucker - and they're all gone.  No evidence to be had.  They were delicious but maybe that goes without saying!  (see above)

I did however snap a pic of my homemade crackers and baba.  Yummmylicious.  (remember what i said about grammar and such!)

Some crackers were plain, some had cumin and cayenne on them, some had sunflower seeds on top (that rolled off on their way to our mouths!) and some had black pepper and Parmesan!  oinky oink oink!

The baba?  well, it was just good old homemade baba...eggplant (roasted on the bbq), tahini, garlic, with olive oil & coriander on top.

Please stay tuned - i have more pics, promise!

Chop Chop Chop

The lovely warm days of summer are fading into chilly days of fall.  But we're not giving up the BBQ just yet!  Lovely, moist, tender Ontario pork chops from Florence meats....boooyahh!

With lovely Ontario cauliflower & tomato sauteed with lots of onion.  A sprinkle of turmeric and some Matouks = heaven onna plate.  nom nom nom.

Have a good Wednesday!

I Think i Better Rethink the Title!

Nothing since Tuesday.  Did anyone notice?
Well we had CAB t-bones on the bbq last night with roasted fingerling taters and a coriander/parsley pesto...and a greek salad ...all to die for.  What did i take a pic of, you say?  Well just the leftover pesto, of course!  and a terrible pic it is!  DOAH!  Okay, today i'll blame the wine and Ramazotti.  (There's always an excuse.)

Have a good day - start your Labour Day weekend off with a bang ....or a bbq or heck, a granola bar, if ya like.
